Official Checklist of
the Birds of the Delhi Region
including adjoining areas of
Haryana and Uttar Pradesh
Notes:
- Area covered: Delhi (including both the Okhla and Noida
banks of the Yamuna) and adjoining areas of Haryana, including Sonipat, Rohtak,
Jhajjar, Gurgaon & Faridabad districts plus Ghaziabad district in Uttar
Pradesh. Roughly everywhere is within 100kms of central Delhi; an area in
which day trips from Delhi are eminently feasible.
- An asterisk * indicates a species which have not been
recorded within Delhi State limits.
- The species included come from the 2002 Checklist of the
Birds of Delhi and Adjoining Areas (January 2002) and on the references
indicated below. V (for vide = see) and the reference numbers are given
against all rarer species and pre 1970 records.
- A number of recently “separated” species, which are not
shown in the OBC list, are included and given the code RS after the scientific
name. In a few cases doubts (e.g. the possibility of the bird being an escape
or release from captivity) are expressed.
- This list is provided as an aid to birders for their
personal use only. Please contact
- This list will be published as a pocket-sized booklet in
summer 2003
