This section is intended to provide a record of bird sightings from the Delhi and Haryana region. It is in two sections.

1) The Regional Year List (2001) is the list of all species seen in a calendar year in the area. The date of the first reported sigthing of each species is also noted along with the name of the reporter. The list separately tracks sightings from Delhi (incl. NOIDA) and those from adjoining districts of Haryana to help turn up the contrast on habitats within the Delhi metropolitan sites separately. 
A master checklist for Delhi and for adjoining areas underlies the year list. This is based on existing checklists and recent sightings and is expected to evolve over time.

2) Rare Sightings (2000-1). This is a list of unusual recent bird sightings from Delhi and Haryana. Inclusion in the list is limited to birds considered vagrants or rare visitors or scarce residents. 
Documentation of details of the sighting (either posted to delhibird or through direct correspondence) is also a pre-requisite, since the list is intended to help update the permanent record of bird distribution in the region.
A list of unusual recent bird sightings from other states in Northern India Bird Network will be added to this section in due course.
